When you use Caltext, we collect: • Your phone number (to identify your account and deliver messages via iMessage) • Your name, age, height, and weight (to calculate your personalized calorie target) • Sex, if you choose to share it — used only for the standard calorie formula; if you skip it, we use a neutral estimate • Meal descriptions and photos you send us • Nutrition and calorie data derived from your meals • Your timezone and country (detected from your phone number for localization)
How We Use Your Data
We use your data to: • Provide personalized calorie and macro tracking • Generate daily summaries, weekly recaps, and meal reminders • Improve the accuracy of our food identification and nutrition estimates • Communicate with you via iMessage
Data Storage & Security
Connections to our website and services use TLS (HTTPS). Your phone number is encrypted at rest using AES. Message history, meal log content, onboarding data during setup, and similar payloads are stored as encrypted application-layer blobs. Your profile fields (such as name and calorie target) are stored in our database with strict access controls. All data is stored on secure, access-controlled servers. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Caltext: • OpenAI — for food identification and natural language processing • USDA FoodData Central — for nutrition data lookup • Sendblue — for iMessage delivery These services process data as necessary to provide our features. We do not sell your data to third parties.
Data Retention
We retain your meal logs and profile data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
Your Rights
You have the right to: • Request a copy of your data • Request correction of inaccurate data • Request deletion of your data • Withdraw consent at any time by stopping use of the service
